Lolo, Montana — Have you ever wanted a home that also includes access to your own private trails for skiing, hiking, and biking? Well, if you have a lot of money, there’s a gorgeous option available near Missoula.

The Missoulian was the first to report that the Lolo Ranch is hitting the market. With forest, creeks, and farmland, the roughly 1900-acre Ranch is a dream property for outdoor enthusiasts.

For skiers, the allure of the property is the more than twenty hand-cut ski trails that were designed and sculpted by a professional. However, with no lifts, guests can only access these runs by earning their turns or using a snowmobile (or other snow vehicles). The trails were cut in the 2000s, and they remain pretty wide and well-maintained. Mountain biking and hiking are also possible in this area.

Interestingly, the prior owner attempted to build a ski resort there, but it didn’t come to fruition. This proposal was known as Bitterroot Resort, but it faced fierce resistance from locals and the US Forest Service.

There’s also a large home on the property. The owner’s residence features five bedrooms and six bathrooms. There are also other buildings on the ranch that can support livestock. During the winter, the Ranch is known as a winter elk habitat.

The property is also situated right next to majestic federal land. There’s around a 3.5-mile public boundary with the Lolo National Forest and Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness.
