Plan Ahead: Vehicle Reservations for Glacier National Park
If you’re heading to Glacier National Park this summer, you’ll need to plan ahead! Vehicle reservations for the upcoming season open on February 13 at 8 a.m. (MST), so mark your calendars.
Where & When You Need a Reservation
From June 13 to September 28, you’ll need a separate vehicle reservation for:
- The west side of Going-to-the-Sun Road
- The North Fork
Reservations can be made up to 120 days in advance, but if you miss that window, don’t worry—next-day reservations will be available starting June 12 at 7 p.m. (MST).
How It Works
- You’ll pick a two-hour entry window between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
- You can enter anytime within your slot and stay as long as you like that day.
- No reservation? You can still enter after 3 p.m.
Where to Get Your Reservation
- Online at Recreation.gov or through their mobile app.
- By phone: 877-444-6777 (8 a.m. – 10 p.m. MST).
Reservations cost $2 and don’t include the $35 park pass, which you can buy at the entrance.
Important Notes
- North Fork visitors: This area is remote! Expect rough roads, no cell service, and limited facilities. Camping is first-come, first-served at Polebridge Ranger Station.
- No vehicle reservations needed if you have lodging, camping, or activity reservations (but Apgar reservations don’t allow access beyond the checkpoint).
- No reservations required for Apgar Village, Two Medicine, and St. Mary’s East Entrance, but these areas can close due to crowding.
- Many Glacier will have construction-related vehicle restrictions, but a limited shuttle will run from July 1 to September 21.
Pro Tip: Take the Free Shuttle
Avoid the hassle of parking—hop on the free shuttle to Logan Pass and enjoy the ride!
